Private
Lessons
Over Facetime or Skype, or in person, students get personal guidance in
individual lessons. This is the fastest and most rewarding way to
achieve progress in learning to play the piano. The student has the
undivided attention of the instructor. The songs being learned are
chosen to be just the right challenge for the student.
Theory Class
A group lesson in music theory
provides a way for children to have fun together as they play music
games, take music quizzes, practice on the computer, or watch short
videos of famous songs. The material includes ear training, sight
reading, and rhythm exercises. Students are exposed to songs which may
include one they will learn in the future.
Duets
Students love duets. Their
enthusiasm for four-hands playing helps them want to practice. The
richer sound is satisfying both to performers and their audience. The
cooperation required is an important part of life. Playing with others
is a skill useful later when playing with an ensemble such as an
orchestra. For all these reasons, Olga Day includes duets in students'
lessons when schedules and other practical considerations permit.
