Mrs. Olga Day is a member of the
Music Teachers Association of California and trains children to get the
MTA Certificate of Merit. She received Bachelors and Masters
degrees from Russia. Before she moved to the United States, Mrs. Day
was a piano teacher and an accompanist for a chorus at a music
school. She wrote an award winning series of articles giving a
new, progressive method of teaching piano. She was involved in
educating other piano teachers. Her students participated in
piano competitions, festivals, and other events.
Many of her students there were top of their class and later became
professional musicians and piano teachers themselves. Although derived
from the Classical tradition of Russian piano teaching, Olga Day
combines traditional, progressive, and her own methods in her teaching.
She uses classical pieces, traditional songs, jazz and standard
exercises, resulting in a highly effective way of teaching piano. She
believes that "Learning piano should not be boring!"
Olga Day has been an active performer both as soloist and accompanist in Russia and the San Francisco Bay Area.
